Tesla has finally shown off its long-delayed next-generation electric sports car, shocking the world by using rocket tech to lift the vehicle off the ground. At a major launch event in Waco, Texas on October 15, 2026, the company proved the vehicle can actually turn in the air using SpaceX thrusters. However, eager buyers will have to keep waiting. The company confirmed that the highly anticipated sports car will not officially land on public roads until 2028.

The grand reveal comes nearly a decade after the electric vehicle giant first promised a brand-new version of its original driving machine. The live presentation featured a handout video showing the sleek vehicle lifting up and shifting its position mid-air, a feat never before seen in the automotive industry.

Electric Vehicle Stock and Market Reaction

Investors are closely watching how this futuristic tech impacts Tesla stock value and the broader clean energy market. While the hovering technology is a massive engineering milestone, the four-year delay from today’s reveal to actual production raised eyebrows across the financial world. Bringing rocket science into consumer automotive manufacturing presents huge challenges.
“Tesla unveils its long-delayed Roadster nearly a decade after first revealing a next-generation version of its original electric sports car,” noted industry reporters covering the Waco event, highlighting the massive gap between the first concept and reality.

Autonomous Tech and Future Valuation

The delay pushes the car’s arrival out by another two years, testing the patience of fans and investors alike. However, the crossover between space tech and consumer cars could redefine luxury electric vehicles. By using cold-gas thrusters developed by sister company SpaceX, the vehicle bridges two multi-billion dollar sectors.

For now, the flying sports car remains an expensive promise. The world will be watching to see if the tech giant can actually meet its new deadline or if the vehicle will remain stuck in development.
