Luxury EV Depreciation: 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ loses nearly $47,000 after 13,000 miles

A 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ Sport 2 that originally retailed for $152,365 has sold at auction for $105,000 after covering about 13,000 miles, highlighting how quickly some luxury electric vehicles (EVs) can lose value in the used-car market.

The Flare Metallic SUV, finished with a Harbor Blue Nouveauluxe interior and fitted with custom 24-inch forged wheels, changed hands for roughly $47,365 less than its original retail price before buyer fees were added.

The sale comes as the market for premium electric SUVs continues to evolve, with depreciation remaining one of the biggest concerns for buyers of high-end battery-powered vehicles.

Luxury Electric Vehicle Depreciation Remains in Focus

The Escalade IQ is Cadillac’s all-electric version of its flagship luxury SUV. While Cadillac reportedly sold more than 8,000 Escalade IQ units last year, the battery-powered model remains a niche product compared with the gasoline-powered Escalade, which continues to outsell it.

The auction result illustrates the pricing pressure facing some luxury EVs once they enter the used-vehicle market.

The featured vehicle was finished in Flare Metallic with a contrasting black roof, gloss-black exterior accents, a panoramic fixed-glass roof, illuminated grille, power-closing doors, running boards, smoked marker lenses and an AutoSense hands-free power tailgate. It also featured custom 24-inch Vivid Racing forged wheels wrapped in Michelin tires.

Premium Features and Advanced Driver Assistance

Inside, the SUV came equipped with Harbor Blue Nouveauluxe upholstery, heated, ventilated and massaging 16-way power front seats, heated second-row captain’s chairs and power-folding third-row seats.

Other luxury features included a 55-inch curved display, a 36-speaker AKG Studio Reference audio system, dual wireless phone chargers, five-zone automatic climate control, dual-zone ambient lighting with 126 selectable colors, a head-up display and a heated steering wheel.

The SUV also included Cadillac’s Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system alongside Night Vision, Forward Collision Alert and Trailer Side Blind-Zone Alert.

Performance Matches the Luxury Experience

Power comes from dual permanent-magnet synchronous AC motors paired with a 205-kWh lithium-ion battery, producing 750 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque in Velocity Max mode.

In its standard driving mode, the SUV delivers 680 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque, with power sent to all four wheels through a direct-drive transmission.

The vehicle also features four-wheel steering and an Air Ride Adaptive Suspension to improve ride comfort and manoeuvrability.

While the Escalade IQ offers premium technology, luxury appointments and high performance, the latest auction result underscores how vehicle depreciation continues to shape purchasing decisions in the luxury EV market, especially for buyers considering resale value alongside performance and technology.
