Honda Motor Co. is recalling more than 406,000 vehicles in the United States due to a manufacturing defect that could cause wheels to detach, according to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The recall affects certain 2016–2021 Honda Civic models equipped with 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels sold as accessories. The auto safety agency warned that the wheel hubs could separate from the vehicle, increasing the risk of crashes.
In a statement, Honda said it is working closely with regulators to address the issue swiftly. “Safety is our top priority,” the company said. “We take every safety concern seriously and are committed to fixing the problem at no cost to our customers.”
The automaker added that dealers will inspect all affected vehicles and replace the wheels and hubs free of charge, ensuring the problem is resolved before it causes harm.
