Oliver Blume, a seasoned German manager, is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Volkswagen Group and Porsche, according to a recent announcement by the companies’ supervisory boards.

Early Life and Education

Blume was born on 6th June 1968, in Braunschweig, Germany. He pursued his passion for engineering by studying mechanical engineering at the prestigious Braunschweig University of Technology after completing his high school education in the same city.

Blume’s automotive journey began when he joined Audi’s international trainee program in 1994. Throughout the years, he steadily climbed the ranks, demonstrating his skills and dedication in various positions. Notably, at the age of 28, he worked as a planner for a body shop and paint at Audi, setting the stage for his remarkable career ahead. He later assumed responsibility for the body of the Audi A3 and was subsequently appointed Executive Assistant for production at Audi.

In 2013, Blume was called upon to join the Porsche Executive Board, where he made significant contributions in the areas of production and logistics.

Taking the Helm at Porsche

On 1st October 2015, Oliver Blume took on the role of CEO at Porsche, a subsidiary of Volkswagen Group. His appointment was made by the supervisory board on 30th September 2015, succeeding Matthias Müller, who was appointed as CEO of Volkswagen Group.

As of July 2023, Porsche has a market cap of $113.06 Billion. This makes Porsche the world’s 123th most valuable company by market cap.
