Elon Musk is reportedly focusing his energies on a new project involving the building of a company town for employees of Tesla, Boring, and SpaceX, as disclosed by The Wall Street Journal.
The projected community, named Snailbrook after the mascot of the Boring Company, will be constructed on 3,500 acres of land that Musk acquired in Texas. The village will serve as a residential hub for the three enterprises’ personnel.
The report is based on evidence obtained from sources with access to county deeds, email correspondence with county officials, and internal communications. It also informed that the rent for a two- or three-bedroom house in the city is likely to be roughly $800 per month and some employees have already been invited to apply for accommodation.
The town will likely be placed in Bastrop County, close to Austin, where Musk has manufacturing for his three firms.
In addition to a Montessori school for children, the town will hold its own mayoral election. Musk’s relocation to Texas from California in 2020, which he attributed to coronavirus regulations, prompted Tesla to establish a new Gigafactory in Austin in 2017.
