Electric carmaker Tesla is taking an aggressive stance against vehicle “flipping,” warning buyers of its ultra-limited Signature Edition models that reselling too soon could come at a steep cost, up to $50,000 and a potential lifetime ban.
The policy applies to the final “swan song” versions of the Tesla Model S and Tesla Model X, two discontinued models reintroduced in limited numbers. With just 350 units available worldwide, 250 Model S and 100 Model X, the company is leaning heavily on scarcity to protect its brand and pricing power.
