For riders who depend on motorcycles to move people and goods, petrol costs and breakdowns are daily risks. ZED MOTORS says its Étalon electric bike is built to change that.
Positioned as a “stallion” among two-wheelers, the Étalon is a high-performance electric motorcycle designed for long hours of work in urban and peri-urban areas. The goal is clear: replace petrol-powered motorcycles with a cleaner and more reliable option.
Built for Distance and Power
ZED MOTORS describes the Étalon as delivering up to 140 km range per charge, depending on load and configuration. This places it well above typical electric bicycles that struggle with short distances.
The bike is powered by a 4 kW electric motor, making it suitable not only for personal commuting but also for professional use such as delivery services and moto-taxi operations. The design focuses on durability for demanding road conditions.
Battery Technology and Daily Use
At the core of the Étalon is LiFePO4 battery technology, known for stability and long life. Zed Motors uses proprietary battery systems, often designed as dual units to support sustained speeds and extended range.
This setup is aimed at riders who cannot afford downtime. Longer battery life and predictable performance reduce the need for frequent replacements.
Infrastructure Beyond the Bike
ZED MOTORS is not stopping at vehicles. The company supports its fleet with solar-powered Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) swapping stations. Riders can exchange depleted batteries instead of waiting to recharge.
This model links the Étalon to a broader sustainable transportation infrastructure, one designed to scale across African cities where grid access and fuel costs remain uneven. It is part of a system built around zero-emission mobility and daily economic survival.
