Top 10 airlines dominating the world’s best-connected airports

Heathrow Airport in London, dominated by British Airways, sees 84 million passengers annually. With over 61,000 connections to 227 destinations, its two runways manage remarkable efficiency compared to peers like Paris CDG and Amsterdam Schiphol, which have more runways.

Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, home to KLM, connects 67 million passengers each year to 276 destinations. Offering over 62,700 flight connections, Schiphol is a key European gateway alongside Paris Charles de Gaulle, dominated by Air France, handling 71 million passengers and offering over 62,500 connections to 291 destinations.

Asia’s busiest hubs include Tokyo’s Haneda Airport, dominated by Japan Airlines with 85 million passengers yearly, and Kuala Lumpur International Airport, a central hub for AirAsia serving 57 million passengers annually. Seoul’s Incheon Airport, home to Korean Air, connects 72 million passengers to 174 destinations each year.

In the United States, Chicago O’Hare Airport, dominated by United Airlines, handles 47 million passengers annually with 55,400 connections across 282 destinations. JFK Airport in New York, dominated by Delta Airlines, connects 64 million passengers each year to 199 destinations globally.

Frankfurt Airport, Germany’s largest hub, is dominated by Lufthansa, serving 62 million passengers annually. Istanbul Airport, controlled by Turkish Airlines, connects an impressive 80 million travellers to over 320 global destinations.
