Morgan Motor Company has unveiled the Supersport, a striking blend of heritage and innovation designed to rival modern performance icons. With a nod to its vintage charm and a leap into cutting-edge engineering, the Supersport signals a bold new chapter for the century-old British marque.

Jonathan Wells, Morgan’s chief design officer, describes the model as a “culmination of five years of relentless craftsmanship and innovation.” The Supersport, he says, is a statement of Morgan’s future, marrying classic aesthetics with state-of-the-art technology.

A design that honours the past and embraces the future

Crafted from lightweight aluminum, the Supersport introduces a redefined shoulder line and, for the first time in over a decade, a rear trunk—enhancing both its aesthetic and practicality. Drivers can transition effortlessly between a coupe and convertible, thanks to an interchangeable carbon-composite hardtop and a retractable mohair soft top.

The exterior, while maintaining Morgan’s signature handcrafted touch, now competes visually with luxury sports models like the Porsche 911 Carrera. It represents a bridge between classic motoring and contemporary performance, designed for those who crave both nostalgia and innovation.

Power and precision beneath the hood

Underneath its elegantly sculpted frame lies BMW’s revered B58 TwinPower Turbo inline six-cylinder engine. Packing 335 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, the Supersport rockets from 0-62 mph in just 3.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 166 mph. Its eight-speed automatic ZF transmission ensures seamless power delivery, refining the driving experience.

The car sits on Morgan’s newly developed CXV aluminum platform, improving torsional rigidity by 10% over its predecessor. With the optional carbon-fiber hardtop, this stiffness increases by another 10%. Suspension mounting stiffness has also doubled, offering sharper handling and a more connected feel on the road. Steering response is now 13% quicker than the outgoing Plus Six model, making the Supersport the most agile Morgan to date.

An interior that balances tradition and technology

Inside, the Supersport masterfully fuses heritage with modern convenience. A digital driver’s display, wireless charging pad, and a premium Sennheiser audio system elevate the cabin’s luxury, while classic analog gauges retain the brand’s vintage appeal. Customers can personalize the interior with a choice of 11 wood finishes, from traditional walnut to intricate engineered marquetry.

Starting at approximately $110,000 (£85,000), the Supersport offers extensive customization, ensuring that each car is as unique as its owner. “Morgan is about craftsmanship and individuality,” Wells notes. “This car is a tribute to that legacy.”

A defining moment for Morgan

The Supersport’s arrival marks a defining moment in Morgan’s 110-year history. As part of its broader expansion, the company is also reintroducing the beloved Plus Four roadster to the U.S. market, a model cherished by collectors, including fashion icon Ralph Lauren.

With a legacy rooted in timeless design and an eye firmly on the future, Morgan’s Supersport is poised to become a modern classic. For enthusiasts seeking a car that embodies both history and innovation, this could be the most compelling Morgan yet.
