Nissan has just presented a new car created in collaboration with New Balance – and it’s a driveable sneaker.

New Balance (NB) has frequently dipped into its Japanese market with new footwear variants and exclusive colorways in recent years, but its latest foray into the country sees the footwear manufacturer put its classic 327 silhouette on wheels.

NB collaborated with Nissan, an automaker to produce a futuristic and electric SUV car known as the Nissan Kicks “327 Edition.” The automobile is finished with an artistically applied wrap and has the 327’s suede upper, as well as everything visible on the original sneaker, from textile stitching to white laces.

Surprisingly, even with a massive collar, tongue, and eyestay on the roof rack, the car’s modification does not affect the vehicle’s original appearance. A black grille is also included, which replicates the way the 327’s black sole extends onto the shoe’s toe box.

The Nissan Kicks “327 Edition includes a matching pair of New Balance 327 sneakers, allowing you to drive and walk in style. The car’s distinctive look continues inside, where the suede upper of the sneakers is used to cover the seats, giving it a premium and fashionable feel. The dashboard and door panels are also covered in the same material, creating a unified appearance throughout the vehicle.

This collaborative vehicle also has modern technologies such as an electric engine, self-driving capabilities, and an augmented reality head-up display. The vehicle is outfitted with Nissan’s ProPILOT 2.0 system, which allows the driver to sit back and relax while the vehicle takes over driving, particularly in stop-and-go traffic.

Similarly, the augmented reality display projects navigation information and other important data directly in front of the driver, making it easier and safer to maintain focus on the road. The Nissan Kicks “327 Edition” is a true mix of style, technology, and sustainability, making it a one-of-a-kind and futuristic vehicle.

Unfortunately, Nissan will not be selling the automobile, but it will be on display at Tokyo’s Aeon Mall. In addition, a social media campaign to win a pair of New Balance 327 sneakers will shortly begin on the official Nissan Instagram page.
