Tesla has been excluded from the 2025 Vancouver International Auto Show, following heightened safety concerns and a wave of political tension between Canada and the United States.
Organisers of the event, one of Canada’s largest automotive showcases, confirmed Tesla was asked multiple times to withdraw voluntarily before being officially removed. “Our top priority is the safety of attendees, exhibitors, and staff,” said Executive Director Eric Nicholl. The decision followed rising backlash aimed at Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who is currently leading a controversial federal downsizing initiative in the U.S.
Tesla has yet to issue an official response to the removal.
Meanwhile, tensions have escalated on both sides of the border. Just this week, Toronto suspended financial incentives for Tesla vehicles used as taxis or ride-shares. City officials say the move was a direct response to Musk’s political affiliations, particularly his ties to U.S. President Donald Trump. These decisions come amid rising tariffs and Trump’s alarming calls for Canada’s annexation—sparking national outrage.
In a separate development, Tesla recalled nearly all of its Cybertrucks in the U.S., citing concerns over an exterior panel that could detach during driving. The recall affects thousands of early deliveries, fueling safety criticisms surrounding the EV giant.
