Drivers could soon spend less on fuel and maintenance as Nissan pushes deeper into electric vehicles with a bold new Juke. The third-generation model, revealed at a recent Vision event, marks the first time the popular compact SUV goes fully electric.
The new Juke EV stands out immediately. Its radical exterior design, showcased in a company video, signals a clear break from its petrol-powered predecessor. The sharper lines and futuristic styling aim to attract younger, urban drivers seeking something different.
Executives say the changes go beyond appearance. Jordi Vila described the model as “disruptive” and enjoyable to drive, highlighting a focus on both performance and personality. That balance could be crucial in a crowded EV market.
While full specifications have not yet been released, the vehicle is expected to share its platform with the Nissan Leaf. This suggests two battery options: 52 kWh and 75 kWh units. In the Leaf, these deliver ranges of approximately 271 miles and 386 miles respectively on a single charge.
One confirmed feature is vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. This allows the car to store electricity and send it back to the power grid when needed. For drivers, this could mean lower energy bills and even potential earnings from unused power.
The electric transition is part of a wider strategy to revitalise the brand. Since its launch in 2010, the Juke has sold around 1.5 million units across Europe. The new EV version, expected in spring 2027, will aim to build on that success.
For motorists, the shift brings clear benefits. Electric vehicles typically require less servicing and eliminate fuel costs, offering significant savings over time. Charging at home can further reduce expenses, especially as energy solutions become more accessible.
As fuel prices remain volatile, the arrival of an electric Juke could offer drivers a more predictable and cost-effective alternative. It also reflects a broader industry shift towards cleaner, smarter mobility.
