Stellantis is recalling 332,000 vehicles in the United States due to a problem with seat belt sensors, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced on Wednesday. The recall affects Alfa Romeo, Jeep, and Fiat models.

The issue involves a seat belt buckle switch sensor that may be improperly connected. According to the NHTSA, this malfunction can prevent the front seat airbag from deploying correctly in the event of an accident. These sensors are crucial for detecting whether a seatbelt is securely fastened.

Owners of the affected vehicles can visit their dealers for a free repair to fix the connection. The recall covers specific models, including the 2017-2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia, 2018-2025 Alfa Romeo Stelvio, 2019-2023 Fiat 500X, Jeep Renegade, and the 2024 Fiat 500E.

Stellantis, one of the world’s largest automakers, was formed by merging Fiat Chrysler and PSA Group. This recall highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to safety and quality assurance.
