Ferrari has recently unveiled the latest addition to their lineup, the stunning Roma Spider. This convertible is based on the Roma Coupé that was introduced in 2019 and maintains its 2+2 seating configuration and sleek, long body. However, the Spider now features a soft top that can be operated to enjoy open-air driving.
“The Ferrari Roma Spider is a timelessly elegant, high-performance car, but also a contemporary take on the chic, pleasure-seeking Italian lifestyle of the 1950s and 60s, according to Ferrari. “This spider carries over the proportions, volumes, and specifications of the Ferrari Roma’s hugely successful concept, but what makes it so striking is the adoption of a soft top, a solution making a welcome return to the Prancing Horse range on a front-engined car 54 years after the launch of the 1969 365 GTS4”
Under the hood, the Spider is powered by the same 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine as its coupé counterpart. The engine produces 612 horsepower and 561 pound-feet of torque, which is transmitted to the rear wheels via an eight-speed dual-clutch paddle-shift gearbox. The car’s sound is enhanced by a rear silencer-deleted, by-pass valve-controlled exhaust system, and the wind deflector is cleverly integrated into the rear seat backrest.
Despite the additional mechanisms for the soft top, Ferrari has managed to maintain a best-in-class power-to-weight ratio, ensuring a thrilling and dynamic driving experience. The car can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 198 mph.
