Cadillac, known for its luxurious and iconic Escalade SUV, is making a groundbreaking move into the world of electric vehicles. General Motors recently announced that Cadillac will be releasing its first fully-electric Escalade, aptly named the Escalade IQ, later this year. This much-anticipated model will join Cadillac’s expanding EV lineup, which already includes the Celestiq luxury sedan and the Lyriq mid-sized SUV.
While specific details about the Escalade IQ’s design and features are limited, it is expected to utilize General Motors’ innovative Ultium battery technology. Cadillac has also filed trademarks for both the “Escalade IQ” and “Escalade IQL” (extended wheelbase) in 2021, hinting at the potential availability of different sizes for this electric behemoth.
Given Cadillac’s plans to unveil three new EVs in 2023, the Escalade IQ is likely to be a part of the 2024 lineup. Rory Harvey, Cadillac’s Vice President, confirmed the company’s ambitious electric vehicle roadmap and its commitment to delivering these models in the same model year.
