A Delta Air Lines passenger has filed a federal discrimination lawsuit after she was removed from her flight, alleging racial discrimination by a white flight attendant. Teresa Hudson Jordan, traveling with her daughter from Greensboro Airport (GSO) to New York LaGuardia (LGA), claims she was verbally assaulted and unjustly removed from the flight on March 27, 2025, for nothing more than making eye contact with a flight attendant.
According to the lawsuit, Jordan was subjected to harsh language and a public display of racial hostility after she briefly looked at the white flight attendant. The lawsuit describes the interaction as “grotesque”. It claims the flight attendant threatened to turn the plane around if Jordan didn’t lower her gaze, in what is described as a demeaning act reminiscent of historical racial oppression. Witnesses to the incident spoke out in support of Jordan, condemning the flight attendant’s actions.
Responding to the lawsuit, Delta Air Lines stated that the airline has zero tolerance for discrimination. However, no further comments were made regarding the pending litigation. The incident follows a broader trend of rising racial discrimination complaints in U.S. airlines.
Data from the U.S. Department of Transportation shows a 26% increase in such complaints from 2022 to 2023, reflecting growing concerns about racial hostility in air travel.
