The sales of Mercedes-Benz Cars saw a significant boost in the second quarter (Q2) of 2023, driven by the increased demand for battery electric vehicles (BEV) and top-end luxury cars. In this period, a total of 515,700 units were sold, representing a 6% increase, and a total of 1,019,200 units were sold in the first half of the year, reflecting a 5% growth.

During the first six months of 2023, Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars achieved remarkable success in the BEV market, selling 102,600 electric vehicles worldwide, which marked a staggering 121% increase compared to the previous year. Fully electric vehicles accounted for 11% of the overall sales during this period, highlighting the growing popularity of sustainable mobility.

Sales in the top-end segment, which includes prestigious models like Mercedes-AMG, Mercedes-Maybach, and G-Class, also experienced notable growth. In the second quarter, sales in this segment rose by 12% to reach 84,800 units, and in the first half of the year, they increased by 15% to reach 176,600 vehicles.

Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing and Sales, emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable growth and expressed satisfaction with the sales performance, particularly in the electric and top-end vehicle categories. The introduction of new models like the E-Class and CLE further contributed to the positive sales trend.

Mercedes-AMG, the high-performance division of the brand, achieved remarkable success with a 19% increase in global sales, reaching 38,000 units in the second quarter. Additionally, the iconic G-Class continued to enjoy strong demand, with sales increasing by 29% to 11,000 units in the same period.

The flagship Mercedes-Maybach model played a significant role in boosting overall sales, as it contributed to a substantial 39% increase, amounting to 6,500 vehicles sold in the second quarter. Furthermore, the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV saw positive results, with 10,900 units sold in the first half of the year.

Sales in the Core segment, which includes popular models like the new GLC, E-Class, CLE, EQE sedan, and EQE SUV, showed steady growth. In the second quarter, sales in this segment increased by 2% to reach 276,600 units. Additionally, sales in the Entry segment experienced an 11% increase, amounting to 154,100 units sold in Q2, and showed even stronger growth of 19% in the first half of 2023.
