Volkswagen dominates Egypt’s electric car market with licensed models

Volkswagen has emerged as the top choice for private electric cars in Egypt. As of July 8, 2023, the total number of licensed electric vehicles in Egypt has reached 2,618, with electric cars accounting for 1,933 of them. This indicates a significant increase of 115 new electric cars compared to the previous month of May.

Volkswagen has consistently dominated the market since the introduction of its ID6 model. So far, 153 Volkswagen ID6 cars have been licensed, followed by the YD4 with 227 cars, YD4X with 159 cars, and YD4 Cross with 171 cars.

BMW, another prominent brand, has licensed a total of 84 electric cars, including the E3 (55 cars), the E3 (55 cars), and the XI8. Mercedes, on the other hand, has seen success with its Equus models, with 580 cars licensed for Equus 580 and 17 cars for Equus 450.

Tesla has experienced a notable increase in sales, with a total of 162 cars licensed since the beginning of the period, 18 more than the previous month. Porsche, with its Takan and S19 models, has licensed 52 cars so far.

Volkswagen’s strong presence in the Egyptian electric car market highlights its commitment to sustainable transportation and its popularity among consumers seeking eco-friendly options.
