Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, announced during a recent earnings call that the company has planned a delivery event for its highly anticipated Cybertruck in the third quarter of this year. The event is expected to take place after the company begins manufacturing the vehicle this summer. However, volume production is not expected to start until 2024, which is in line with previous announcements made by the automaker.

During the call, Musk informed investors that the manufacturing process for the Cybertruck is a radical and unique one. “it takes time to set up the manufacturing line for the Cybertruck and that the vehicle is not made in the same way as other cars,” he said.

The Cybertruck has no door handles, and it can detect its owner’s proximity to automatically open its doors. It is made out of stainless steel, which is more expensive than traditional steel used in the automotive industry. The vehicle requires custom-made smaller components and special welding techniques due to its unique design. The Cybertruck is expected to appeal to the luxury market and has a starting price range of $39,900 for a single-motor configuration up to $70,000 for a three-motor configuration.

While Tesla has delayed the production of Cybertuck several times and the launch date pushed back from 2021 to 2022 and then to 2023, it has not finalized the vehicle’s specs and pricing, which could be impacted by various factors such as supply chain shortages and economic conditions.
