When it comes to luxury cars, Mercedes-Maybach has been at the top of the list for a long time with its “more is more” features. By releasing the new Haute Voiture limited edition model, the car company shows that it combined extravagant design with the highest level of uniqueness to make its most collectible edition yet.
The must-have luxury car for collectors was first shown to a targeted audience in Dubai last December, along with a curated runway show by Atelier Zuhra. Following the design cues of the concept model, it is made of high-quality materials, comes in rich colours, and has smooth finishes that are common in Haute Couture.
Mercedes-Benz Group AG’s chief design officer, Gorden Wagener, says, “The Mercedes-Maybach S-Class Haute Voiture is one of the most extravagant models we’ve ever made because of its intricate details and exclusive design elements. It’s Sophisticated Luxury in its purest form.”
From the outside in, the new Maybach has a variety of custom-made features that add to its luxurious look. The car has a unique two-tone paint job. The roof and forged wheels are a bold, nautical blue that looks great with the shimmering rose on the lower part of the car. Mercedes calls the way the colours are put together inside the cars a “sensual mix of colours.” These colours work together in a way that never gets old.
As the doors are opened to a treasure chest with rose-gold accents, LCD technology lights up the front and back entries. Inside, the metallic edges of the dashboard and centre console wrap around and frame a mix of nice materials.
Like the previous S 680s, the seats, armrests, and roof lining are covered in a clean white nappa leather. Navy, beige, gold, and rose gold bouclé, as well as linen and mohair, add to the luxury feel. Each model is finished with a badge on the centre console that shows its number in the limited run.
But the latest Mercedes-Maybach isn’t just influenced by the style of haute couture. A new MBUX infotainment system is based on the recent rise of tech-savvy fashion houses. It has a set of 12 avatars that can be dressed in a classic set of black tie clothes. Passengers can sit back and watch the system’s catwalk-style graphics while sipping from rose-gold champagne flutes.
Along with the car, the brand is also releasing a line of handbags that can be bought at Maybach Icons of Luxury stores or online. The pieces are made from the original materials, such as bouclé and Nappa leather, and are cut and sewn into a variety of shapes and sizes. The bags are the perfect way to finish off the S-Class Haute Voiture, and they give a new meaning to the idea of a complete luxury car experience.
Like bespoke fashion, which goes straight from the runway to the closet, the new S 680 will only be available in very small numbers. This will make it rare and exclusive.
Daniel Lescow, Head of Mercedes Maybach Mercedes Benz Group, says, “With a limited run of only 150 units, the special edition reflects our brand’s goal to occasionally make collectibles that people want.” He adds, “By doing this, we strengthen Maybach’s position as the ultimate luxury pioneer and give our customers one-of-a-kind luxury experiences that go above and beyond their expectations.”
