Hyundai in 2022 captured industry attention with the unveiling of its futuristic N Vision 74 concept car, which fell under the high-performance N sublabel. Serving as a dynamic “rolling lab,” this cutting-edge vehicle showcased Hyundai’s unwavering dedication to zero-emission technologies. Now, after nearly a year, exciting reports have emerged confirming that the N Vision 74 is transitioning from concept to production.
What’s even more intriguing is that the sports model will reportedly adopt the iconic name “Pony Coupe,” a nostalgic nod to the original two-door Pony from 1974. The classic Pony was not only instrumental in propelling the Korean car industry forward but also left a lasting impact on automotive design, serving as inspiration for the iconic DeLorean DMC 12.
Leading the design of the production car is Fabrizio Guigiaro, son of the renowned automotive designer Giorgetto Guigiaro, who was the creative force behind the original Pony model. While details remain unclear, it remains to be seen whether the hydrogen hybrid power system showcased in the N Vision 74 concept will be retained, or if Hyundai will opt for a more conventional powertrain.
Automotive enthusiasts and Hyundai fans can look forward to the grand debut of the new Pony Coupe on May 27, also known as “Pony Day,” which will take place in Seoul, South Korea. This highly anticipated event promises to unveil a remarkable fusion of heritage, innovation, and captivating design.
