For sunseekers along Egypt’s northern coast, the sight of a car gliding across the waves is no illusion. It’s the creation of 29-year-old Karim Amin and two of his closest friends; an innovation transforming the global leisure scene.
What appears to be a sleek car is, in fact, a high-powered watercraft. Built with internal mechanics similar to a jet ski, the amphibious vehicle, dubbed the “Jetcar”, has a top speed of 70 km/h (43 mph). Equipped with Bluetooth surround speakers and GPS tracking, it offers both thrill and safety on the water.
The Jetcar is the brainchild of Amin’s startup, Jetcar Kromh, based in Egypt. Originally designed for local beach fun, the vehicle has now evolved into a globally coveted product. “We export to over 70 countries,” Amin said. “Our biggest buyers are in the U.S., Canada, Spain, France, Greece, and Cyprus.”
Each Jetcar is custom-built, with prices ranging between $19,000 and $44,800, depending on the design and specifications. Since launch, the team has produced 12 units and orders continue to surge. “We didn’t expect the response to be this overwhelming,” Amin said, “but it shows how much people want fun, freedom, and innovation.”
More than a watercraft, the Jetcar is a fusion of engineering, design, and entertainment; a ride that feels like flying on water, set to your favourite playlist. For thrill-seekers and coastal resorts alike, it represents a new frontier in aquatic mobility.
