General Motors (GM) closed 2025 with a total of 2.85 million vehicles delivered, marking a 6% increase year-on-year and reinforcing its position as the US market leader. Despite a slower fourth quarter, GM’s overall performance remained strong, with market share rising to 17%, according to internal estimates.

Full-size trucks and SUVs drive growth

The Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra combined for 940,000 deliveries, maintaining GM’s six-year streak as the top full-size pickup truck maker in the country. SUVs also contributed to growth, with the Chevrolet Tahoe and GMC Yukon posting their best deliveries since 2007, while the Chevy Suburban hit record numbers since 2018. Crossovers jumped 12% to 1.28 million units, driven by models such as the Chevy Traverse and Trax.

Cadillac and EV Expansion

The Cadillac Escalade saw its best retail sales since 2007, alongside record V-Series deliveries. GM’s EV segment grew 48% year-on-year, totaling nearly 170,000 units, though fourth-quarter deliveries fell sharply by 43%, signaling ongoing challenges in EV production and demand.

Brand Highlights Across Portfolio

  • Chevrolet delivered 1.829 million units, up 4.7%.
  • GMC achieved 652,000 units, a 6.2% increase.
  • Buick sold 198,000 units, its strongest since 2019.
  • Cadillac deliveries surged 8.3% to 173,515 units.

GM’s dealers reported an 18% decrease in inventory to 486,000 units, suggesting a leaner, more efficient distribution system. Industry-wide, total annualized sales were estimated at 16.6 million units, demonstrating steady growth despite market fluctuations.
