Ford Motor Company has announced a recall of 456,565 units of select compact SUVs and pickup trucks in the United States, citing concerns over a loss of drive power stemming from a low battery issue. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced recently, underlining the potential safety implications of the identified problem.

According to the NHTSA, an undetected low battery charge could trigger malfunctions in certain electrical accessories, such as hazard lights, and in severe cases, result in a loss of drive power in the affected vehicles. The safety regulator’s alert underscores the critical nature of addressing the issue promptly to mitigate any potential hazards on the road.

The recall specifically targets Bronco Sport SUVs manufactured between 2022 and 2024, along with Maverick compact pickup trucks produced between 2022 and 2023, as outlined by the NHTSA. These vehicles, widely popular for their performance and efficiency, have been flagged for inspection and necessary rectification to ensure continued safe operation on the nation’s roadways.

In response to the identified concern, Ford has pledged to take swift and comprehensive action to address the issue. Dealerships across the country will undertake recalibration of the body control and powertrain control modules, effectively rectifying the low battery issue, and thereby restoring optimal functionality to the affected vehicles.

This recall underscores the automotive industry’s ongoing commitment to prioritizing consumer safety and proactively addressing potential concerns to uphold the highest standards of vehicle performance and reliability. Customers affected by the recall are urged to contact their nearest authorized Ford dealership to schedule an inspection and necessary repairs, which will be conducted free of charge as part of Ford’s commitment to customer satisfaction and safety.
