Berthon International has named seasoned maritime professional Tim Carbury as its new Head of Sales in Spain, strengthening its leadership team in one of Europe’s most important yachting hubs.
Based in Palma de Mallorca, Carbury brings decades of hands-on experience to the role, built steadily since the age of 18. His journey began on the UK’s South Coast, where a passion for yachting grew into a full-time career on the water.
From deck to deal room in yacht brokerage
Carbury’s career spans a wide range of roles across both sailing and motor yachts. He has worked as a marine engineer and later as a yacht captain, building technical knowledge alongside leadership skills.
A decade ago, he transitioned into yacht brokerage in Mallorca, combining practical maritime expertise with commercial and client-facing experience. He has held senior roles at well-known firms including Fraser Yachts and Moravia Yachting.
This blend of operational and sales experience positions him to lead Berthon’s Spanish sales strategy at a time when demand for luxury yachts in the Mediterranean remains competitive.
Berthon International Strengthens Mediterranean Presence
Berthon Sales Group Managing Director Sue Grant described Palma as a cornerstone of the company’s Mediterranean operations.
“Palma de Mallorca is Berthon’s home in the Mediterranean, and we look forward to working with Tim to expand our presence in this key market,” Grant said.
In his new role, Carbury will work closely with Managing Brokers Simon Turner and Henk Sijbranda, Spain Sales Office Manager Nathalie Miquel-Elcano, Managing Director Andrew Fairbrass, and the Berthon Spain Service team.
Maritime Sales Leadership with Industry Roots
Carbury said he is eager to build on the company’s long-standing success.
“I am delighted and excited to join Berthon International Spain as Head of Sales, and I look forward to working closely with the team to continue and build upon the success they have achieved over so many years,” he said.
His appointment reflects Berthon’s focus on maritime sales leadership grounded in real-world experience, an approach that continues to define the firm’s position in the global yacht market.
