Royal Huisman is preparing to reshape the world of superyachts with a vessel designed to break records and redefine luxury at sea. The Dutch shipyard has confirmed plans to launch Sky in 2030, a 264-foot sailing yacht built around what will become the tallest mast ever installed on a yacht. For enthusiasts and investors, it signals a bold shift in how modern sailing performance and high-end comfort can coexist.

The yacht’s 305-foot rig, engineered by Rondal, will stand roughly as tall as the Statue of Liberty from ground to torch. Today, the title for the tallest sailing yacht belongs to the 417-foot Koru, reportedly owned by Jeff Bezos, whose three masts reach between 213 and 280 feet. Sky will surpass that height with a single, towering sloop rig, setting a new global benchmark when she enters service.

Royal Huisman says the yacht’s performance will match its size. Built with a sleek aluminium hull and advanced weight optimisation, Sky is expected to sail faster than the wind and exceed the speed of motor yachts of similar length.

A lift keel and twin composite rudders will give her the agility of yachts under 164 feet, allowing smooth manoeuvring despite her enormous scale. An integrated sailing system will also reduce crew requirements and simplify handling during long-range voyages.

Styling was led by Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design, with interiors by Winch Design. The interior is inspired by natural textures, sculpted forms and calming neutral tones. Six cabins, including a full-beam owner’s suite, form the heart of the living space. The owner’s quarters include direct access to a large aft beach deck with fold-out terraces, a retractable swim platform and full-height windows that frame 180-degree ocean views.

Life onboard is centred on wellbeing and adventure. The midship spa includes a sauna, steam room and folding platform that opens directly onto the sea. A dedicated watersports centre supports exploration and play. The yacht can carry a 39-foot tender, a crew or rescue tender, two water scooters and an assortment of watersport toys designed for global cruising.

Originally introduced in 2024 as Project 411 and nicknamed Noir, the yacht was commissioned by an experienced owner but is now available for purchase. Royal Huisman says most of its engineering and design work is complete, ensuring a smoother build process ahead of launch.

Chief executive Peter Naeyé says the yacht is ideal for long-distance explorers. “Ready for an owner who wants to sail the world, Sky is set for delivery in spring 2030, a super-sized sailing yacht developed to explore the far corners of the globe in the most eco-friendly way compared to XXL motor yachts,” he said.
