Polestar, a Swedish automotive brand, has officially unveiled its newest addition to the lineup, the Polestar 4. This electric car is designed to sit between the Polestar 2 and Polestar 3 in terms of price and size, and it features a unique design that combines the aerodynamics of a coupé with the spaciousness of an SUV.
One of the design features of the Polestar 4 that stands out is the total elimination of a rear window. According to Polestar, this lack of window creates a new kind of immersive rear occupant experience. In addition, the front lights are designed in a dual-blade style, adding to the car’s futuristic aesthetic.
The Polestar 4 achieves its coupé-like aerodynamics through a compact design that includes a low nose, retractable door handles, seamless windows, and subtle rear aero blades. “The car is built from the ground up as a new breed of SUV coupé that prioritizes rear occupant comfort and experience, rather than simply modifying an existing SUV with a faster roofline,” according to Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO.
In terms of performance, the Polestar 4 boasts impressive acceleration, jumping from 0 mph to 60 mph in less than 4 seconds, with a maximum power output of 400 kW (544 hp). Drivers have the option of dual and single-motor versions, with the latter also offering rear-wheel drive. Tires are available from Michelin and Pirelli.
The indicative launch pricing for the 2024 Polestar 4 is $60,000 USD, although this is subject to change.
