Koenigsegg’s Sadair’s spear: The $5m street-legal monster that just broke records

Koenigsegg has raised the hypercar bar again, this time with a street-legal beast called Sadair’s Spear. Despite its track pedigree, it’s cleared for public roads. And yes, it just smashed its own lap record.

The Swedish automaker’s latest masterpiece is an even more extreme version of the Jesko Attack. Its 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8 now delivers 1,282 horsepower on standard petrol, and a staggering 1,602 hp on E85 biofuel. That’s a bump of 25 hp over the Jesko, all thanks to new engine calibration, enhanced cooling, and revised air intakes.

On the Gotland Ring circuit in Sweden, the car beat the Jesko Attack’s best lap time by 1.1 seconds. That’s not minor, especially for a car weighing just 2,910 lbs (1,320 kg), now 77 lbs lighter thanks to titanium parts and stripped-down internals. New aerodynamics, like a double-blade active rear wing and aggressive canards, also mean more grip and more downforce at high speed.

Only 30 examples of Sadair’s Spear will ever exist. All have already been sold. Each reportedly costs around $5 million, but expect resale values to skyrocket if one ever hits the auction. Christian Koenigsegg named the car in honour of his father’s racehorse, making this machine not just a technical marvel but a deeply personal tribute.
