Passengers scheduled to fly from Bermuda to London found themselves in a tense situation over the weekend when their British Airways flight was evacuated due to a bomb threat. The incident occurred at LF Wade International Airport in Bermuda, where authorities received the alarming threat via email at 8:50 pm on Sunday.
In response to the threat, passengers were swiftly evacuated from the aircraft, and airport security, along with local police, initiated emergency protocols. “Police were notified by staff at the LF Wade International Airport of a bomb threat that was received via email.
As a precautionary measure, local roads were temporarily closed to traffic while a thorough search of the airport and its surroundings was conducted. Fortunately, the search yielded no evidence of any explosive devices, and the airport was declared safe after the all-clear was given.
Despite the ordeal, all passengers were reported to be safe, and the airline ensured their well-being while working to arrange alternative travel plans. However, the flight, which was originally scheduled to depart on Sunday night, was ultimately delayed overnight.
