Bombardier has once again raised the bar in business aviation with its Global 7500, setting a milestone 100th city-pair speed record during a transatlantic flight that showcased not only speed but unrivaled luxury at 51,000 feet.
On a special mission from San Luis Obispo, California to London, UK, the $80 million jet covered 4,934 nautical miles in just 9 hours and 17 minutes, flying at an average speed of 613.8 mph. Designed for ultra-high-net-worth individuals and business leaders, the Global 7500 combines technical excellence with an experience that rivals five-star hotels.
Business Travel Reimagined at 51,000 Feet
Passengers aboard the record-breaking flight were treated to a first-class experience from takeoff to touchdown. Greeted with champagne and personalized service, they enjoyed four distinct living zones, including a private bedroom, full dining area, entertainment lounge, and business suite.
Flying at a cruising altitude of 43,000 feet, well above commercial air traffic, the journey was free from turbulence. A cutting-edge pressurization system, maintaining a cabin altitude of just 4,000 feet, dramatically reduced jet lag and fatigue.
A legacy of innovation and record-setting performance
Since entering service in 2018, Bombardier has delivered over 200 Global 7500 jets, accumulating more than 220,000 flight hours. Known for accessing short runways like London City Airport, the aircraft outperforms rivals such as the Gulfstream G700 and Dassault Falcon 10X.
The Global 7500 reaches a top speed of Mach 0.925 with a range of 7,700 miles. Bombardier is now preparing to debut the Global 8000, promising 8,000 miles of range and speeds of up to Mach 0.94, pushing the frontiers of business aviation even further.
The height of airborne luxury
Inside the aircraft, fine leather seats, hand-finished woodwork, and noise-reduction systems create an oasis in the sky. Passengers savoured chef-prepared meals, paired with wines tailored for high-altitude flavor. Some chose to rest in a real bed or refresh in an optional stand-up shower—experiences rarely found on board any aircraft.
Upon landing at London’s Biggin Hill Airport, the flight crew was met with applause from Bombardier staff, marking a historic achievement for the aviation leader. The Global 7500’s record reinforced its role not just as a transportation tool, but as a symbol of elite mobility and forward-thinking innovation.
