BMW’s Chinese partnership, BMW Brilliance Automotive, has achieved a significant milestone by manufacturing its six millionth vehicle in China. This milestone highlights the rapid production pace of BMW vehicles in the region, with the last million units being built in just fifteen months.

The six millionth vehicle, a striking frozen, pure grey-coloured BMW i5 electric sedan, recently rolled off the production line at BMW’s Plant Dadong factory in China. This achievement underscores the success of the partnership between BMW and Brilliance Automotive, which was founded in 2003, marking 21 years of collaboration.

“Reaching the production of six million vehicles in China is a testament to the strong partnership and commitment to excellence between BMW and Brilliance Automotive,” said a spokesperson for BMW. “We are proud of this achievement and look forward to continued success in the region.”

The BMW Brilliance Automotive partnership is not resting on its laurels. The company is gearing up for the arrival of its new range of electric vehicles, the Neue Klasse models, in China. To support this initiative, BMW is establishing a factory in Shenyang, China, to assemble batteries for the Neue Klasse models, representing an investment of €1.3 billion.

The first Neue Klasse cars are expected to arrive in 2025, with production by BMW Brilliance Automotive set to commence in 2026.
