He reminisced about the inaugural flight, which marked the beginning of an era of connectivity. “The maiden departure, Chanchangi Airline Flight NCH 334, symbolized a momentous occasion as it took off from our runway on May 7, 2007, carrying 70 passengers,” Jibodu said.
Today, MMA2 stands as a thriving aviation hub, with 10 domestic airlines operating daily flights from its premises. Jibodu proudly listed the partner airlines, including Ibom Air, Valuejet, Air Peace, Arik Air, Aero Contractors, Dana Air, United Nigeria Airlines, Azman Air, Max Air, and Rano Air. “We are deeply grateful for the enduring partnerships we have cultivated with these esteemed carriers,” he added.
The COO highlighted the terminal’s impressive footfall, welcoming over ten thousand guests daily, comprising passengers, stakeholders, and concessionaires. He emphasized MMA2’s commitment to continuous improvement, citing ongoing infrastructure developments aimed at enhancing the overall passenger experience.
“Our success is underpinned by the innovative Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, which has bolstered operational efficiency and fostered collaboration with private entities,” Jibodu explained. He cited the introduction of a state-of-the-art multi-story car park and the implementation of e-gates at central screening points as initiatives aimed at streamlining passenger facilitation and enhancing security measures.
Moreover, Jibodu noted MMA2’s focus on reliability and sustainability, exemplified by the establishment of uninterrupted power supply systems. “These critical infrastructure investments ensure operational resilience, safeguarding the travel experience for all our passengers,” he said.
Reflecting on the terminal’s journey, Jibodu acknowledged the collective effort and dedication of staff, partners, and stakeholders. He credited their unwavering commitment to excellence as instrumental in shaping MMA2’s legacy of success, stating “Our Training Center stands as a testament to our commitment to nurturing the next generation of aviation professionals.”
Also at the event, Jibodu outlined ambitious plans for infrastructure development and expansion. “We are committed to implementing terminal upgrades, leveraging improved technology for enhanced security, and fostering sustainable initiatives to expand our cargo ecosystem,” he stated.
