In a bid to accelerate the release of high-performance electric cars, Audi has formed a significant partnership with SAIC, a prominent Chinese car group, to enhance its presence in the electric vehicle (EV) market.
Audi, a renowned German automaker, recognized the need for a Chinese partner to develop an EV platform for their top models. After a thorough search, they chose to collaborate with SAIC, leveraging their advanced EV platform expertise.
Reliable sources from the Chinese medium Jiemian confirm that Audi and SAIC are deepening their strategic cooperation to create an innovative EV platform that effectively accommodates Audi’s top-tier models.
This partnership is not entirely unprecedented, as SAIC has been collaborating with Volkswagen for an extended period. Their joint venture already manufactures Audi vehicles tailored for the Chinese market, including the MQB models like the Audi A7L, Q6, and electric Q5 e-tron, built on an MEB basis.
As the venture progresses, SAIC-Volkswagen may develop an entirely new platform for Audi’s EV lineup. Alternatively, Audi might explore utilizing SAIC Motor’s existing EV base, boasting an impressive range of 1,000 kilometers and a remarkable power output of over 800 horsepower.
The strategic collaboration holds immense promise, combining Audi’s engineering expertise with SAIC’s proficiency in the Chinese EV market. With the shared goal of revolutionizing the EV landscape, the alliance is set to yield cutting-edge advancements in electric mobility.
Enthusiasts eagerly await the arrival of high-performance, environmentally friendly Audi electric flagship models, set to redefine the future of electric vehicles.
