FIFA World Cup 2026: Hyundai sends 1,500 vehicles, robots to run logistics

Hyundai Motor Company is preparing one of the largest mobility operations in sporting history, deploying 994 passenger vehicles and 506 buses to support the FIFA World Cup 2026 across 16 cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The South Korean automaker, a long-time partner of FIFA since 1999, said the fleet will support national teams, officials, media, and tournament operations throughout the month-long competition.

“We are proud to support tournament operations through seamless transportation and advanced robotics solutions,” said Sungwon Jee, Executive Vice President and Global Chief Marketing Officer at Hyundai Motor Company.

The fleet includes models such as the Genesis GV80, Palisade, Santa Fe, Tucson, Sonata, Elantra, and Santa Cruz. Some vehicles will use hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) technology, though Hyundai confirmed no full EVs are included in this deployment.

Beyond vehicles, Hyundai is also expanding its Boston Dynamics Spot robotics inspection system into global sports operations for the first time.

Four Spot robots will conduct autonomous patrols and real-time inspections at key sites, including the International Broadcast Center in Dallas and the New York–New Jersey Stadium. The robots will be equipped with enterprise inspection tools for monitoring infrastructure and improving operational safety.

“This deployment highlights scalable real-world robotics applications in complex environments,” Hyundai said.

Global Mobility Contract at Scale

Hyundai described the project as the largest FIFA fleet ever deployed, reflecting rising demand for integrated mobility and smart infrastructure in mega sporting events.

The company also reported a 3% rise in U.S. sales in May 2026, reaching 87,468 units, signaling continued commercial momentum alongside its global sports partnerships.
