American Airlines, one of the world’s largest carriers, has launched its centennial celebrations on January 5, 2026, commemorating 100 years since its first flight in 1926. The milestone shows the airline’s resilience in an industry marked by mergers, bankruptcies, and intense competition.

The centerpiece of the campaign is a special Boeing 737 livery featuring a silver motif and an infinity symbol, symbolizing the airline’s legacy and future. The design, applied to aircraft N840NN, will gradually appear across the fleet, airport signage, and digital platforms.

In addition to visual branding, American Airlines is rolling out limited-edition AAdvantage credit cards, onboard amenity kits, in-flight dining enhancements, and merchandise for passengers throughout 2026. The airline has also launched a dedicated centennial website for enthusiasts and travelers to explore its historical archives.

“There’s no brand in aviation more iconic than American Airlines, built on a culture of innovation and forward-thinking,” said Robert Isom, CEO. “We’re poised to continue that legacy into the next 100 years for our customers and team members.”

The celebration highlights American Airlines’ transformation from a 1926 mail carrier into a global network with modern fleets and hub airports. Few carriers worldwide survive a full century, a testament to the airline’s scale, operational strategy, and customer loyalty.

Industry observers note that the centennial branding also reinforces investment confidence. With post-pandemic travel demand rising, American Airlines continues fleet modernization, premium cabin expansion, and digital enhancements.
