Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, several international airlines have suspended flights to the region or altered their routes to avoid affected airspace. The move shows the growing concerns over potential conflicts and the safety of passengers and crew.

Air Algerie has announced a temporary suspension of its flights to and from Lebanon, with no indication of when services will resume. Similarly, Air India has halted its scheduled flights to and from Tel Aviv, following the increasing unrest in the region.

Air France-KLM has also taken significant steps, with Air France extending its suspension of flights between Paris and Beirut until August 11. KLM, the Dutch arm of the airline, has cancelled all its flights to and from Tel Aviv until October 26, citing safety concerns.

Delta Air Lines has followed suit, extending its suspension of flights between New York and Tel Aviv until August 31. A spokesperson for the airline stated, “The safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority, and we are closely monitoring the situation.”

UK budget airline easyJet had already stopped flying to and from Tel Aviv in April and has announced it will not resume these flights until March 30, 2025.

ITA Airways, Italy’s national carrier, has extended its suspension of flights to and from Tel Aviv through August 10, while Lufthansa has taken extensive measures, suspending flights to Tel Aviv, Tehran, Beirut, Amman, and Erbil until August 13. The German airline also announced it would avoid Iranian and Iraqi airspace during this period. Swiss Air Lines, part of the Lufthansa Group, is adopting a similar approach, with suspensions of flights to Tel Aviv and Beirut until August 13.

Royal Jordanian has suspended flights to and from Beirut until August 10, continuing a suspension that began on July 29. Ryanair, Europe’s largest budget airline, has cancelled its flights to and from Tel Aviv until August 23, in response to the escalating situation.

Singapore Airlines has ceased flying over Iranian airspace, opting for alternative routes to ensure passenger safety. Meanwhile, United Airlines has suspended its flights to Tel Aviv indefinitely. The Chicago-based airline had already suspended its daily Newark-Tel Aviv service on July 31, citing security concerns.

As tensions continue to rise, airlines are closely monitoring the situation, with many preparing to adjust their operations further if necessary. Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for the latest updates on flight schedules and safety measures.
