When it’s time to buy a new car, quality is often the most important thing. After all, a good-quality car is likely to be more reliable, need less maintenance, and last longer.
But which countries make cars that are known to be the best? J.D. Power’s 2020 Initial Quality Study (IQS), which looks at problems reported during the first 90 days of ownership, shows that the following seven countries have the best vehicles overall:
Countries and the quality cars they make
South Korea
South Korean carmakers were at the top of the list in the 2020 IQS, with an average of only 81 problems per 100 vehicles. In the study, brands like Hyundai and Kia were mentioned as ones that stood out. Both manufacturers are known for making reliable, reasonably priced cars that are of high quality.
Japan
With an average of 82 problems per 100 vehicles, Japan was a close second. In the study, brands like Toyota and Lexus were said to have done especially well. Both brands have been admired for a long time because of how reliable they are, how well they use gas, and how well they are made overall.
Japanese cars are known for being so reliable that they are sometimes called “bulletproof.”
Germany
Germany came in third, with an average of 89 problems for every 100 cars. In the study, Audi and Mercedes-Benz were called out as two of the best brands. They are reputable for their luxury, performance, and attention to detail.
Sweden
Sweden came in fourth, with an average of 92 problems per 100 vehicles. In the study, Volvo was said to have done especially well, and the brand was ranked first in the compact premium car segment.
Volvo is known for putting a lot of thought into safety and building quality. In fact, Volvo has been making some of the safest cars on the road for a long time.
USA
The United States came in fifth, with an average of 93 problems per 100 vehicles. Even though the study didn’t mention any specific American brands, it did say that the country as a whole makes high-quality cars.
Even though the United States is known for making many different kinds of cars, some American vehicles do stand out because of how well they are made. Some brands, like Tesla and Chevrolet, are known for making high-quality electric and hybrid cars. Others, like Ford and GM, are known for how well they are built and how reliable they are.
France
Renault, a French car company, is known for making stylish and reliable cars, and it has a strong reputation for quality.
Italy
Italian brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Maserati are known for making high-end, high-performance cars that are often made by hand with the best materials.
Aside from these results, it’s important to note that Japan, Germany, and South Korea have also been named by a number of other studies and industry experts as countries that make some of the best cars.
From their focus on engineering excellence and attention to detail to their reputation for reliability and overall build quality, these countries have all earned a well-deserved reputation for making some of the best cars in the world.
Also, it is important to remember that these rankings are subjective and can change based on each person’s thoughts and priorities. But these countries have always shown that they are dedicated to making high-quality cars that are built to last.
