Netherlands barn yields incredible vintage cars collection

A rare discovery has been made in the Netherlands, where a collection of 230 vintages cars have been found in a barn.

The collection was owned by Ad Palmen, a Dutch collector who had been gathering vintage cars for the past four decades. Palmen had built up his collection over the years, starting with a yellow Lancia B20, and eventually expanding his storage to two warehouses and a church.

The collection, which has been kept secret until now, includes some of the most sought-after vintage cars from Europe and the United States.

Among the vehicles discovered in the car barn are some of the rarest and most iconic in the world, including Alfa Romeos, Maseratis, Ferraris, BMWs, Mercedes-Benzs, NSUs, Jaguars, Aston Martins, Rolls-Royces, Chevrolets, Cadillacs, and Fords. The collection also includes obscure rides such as the Tatra, Monica, Moretti, Matra, Alvis, Imperia, and Villard.

These cars are set to be auctioned by Gallery Aaldering with Classic Car Auctions and are expected to fetch millions of dollars.

Alfa Romeo 2600 SZ, a Mercedes-Benz 300S Roadster, and a Lancia Aurelia Spider are some of the standouts in the collection. Although there has been no official estimate for the auction, a previously unrestored Mercedes-Benz 300S Roadster sold for nearly $500,000 USD at Bonhams last year. The cars are said to be in good condition and have “stood the test of time very well.”

The discovered vintage cars have been placed in a warehouse in Dordrecht and will be open for public viewing for three days in late May while online auction will start on May 19 and end on June 7, 2023. Nico and Nick Aaldering of the gallery stated that “It is unlikely that anyone will ever see a collection of this caliber and condition again in their lifetime.”
