Michael Fux, famously known as the Mattress King, has made headlines by purchasing two Rolls-Royce Spectre cars to ensure he was the first in the US to own the luxury model.

The Florida-based millionaire, renowned for his love of cars, didn’t hesitate to spend extra to achieve his goal. “I wanted to be the first to have the Spectre in the US,” Fux shared in an interview with Motor1.

A love for luxury cars

Fux’s passion for cars is well-documented. With a collection that already boasts fifteen Rolls-Royces, the addition of the Spectre marks his third electric vehicle. “So now I have three electric cars: the Spectre, a Hummer, and a Tesla Plaid,” he said.

The Spectre: A milestone for Rolls-Royce

The Spectre is Rolls-Royce’s first-ever production electric vehicle (EV) and has garnered significant attention since its release. Known for its stunning design and advanced technology, the Spectre has become a must-have among car enthusiasts.

Fux introduced his new ride to the world via Instagram, showcasing the Tempest Grey exterior and white leather interior of one of his Spectres. While the colour scheme might seem understated compared to his usual taste, Fux emphasized, “I just wanted to be the first in the US to have one, regardless of the colour.”

Customisation and Future Plans

Fux’s Instagram post hinted at more to come: “My custom spec is coming next year and it will be outrageous. Details coming soon.” Known for his vibrant colour choices, his future Spectre is expected to be a standout addition to his collection.

From Humble Beginnings to the Mattress King

Born in 1958, Fux moved to the US in 1973 and began his career selling used tires and recharging car batteries. He later found success in the foam bedding industry, earning the nickname Mattress King and accumulating a net worth of approximately $400 million.

While Fux’s collection is impressive, another Florida businessman surpasses it with a staggering 442 luxury vehicles.

The influence of colour on car collections

Fux is not alone in his love for colourful cars. Reuben Singh, another prominent car collector, is known for matching his Rolls-Royces to his turbans, showcasing the growing trend of personalization in luxury vehicles.

As Fux continues to expand his collection, his latest acquisitions solidify his status as a prominent figure in the world of luxury cars.
