The 2025 World Car Awards were announced at the New York International Auto Show, with the Kia EV3 taking top honours as World Car of the Year. The awards, now in their 21st year, were presented during the show’s press preview on April 16, coinciding with the auto show’s 125th anniversary.

The Kia EV3, a compact electric SUV, was lauded by a jury of over 100 automotive journalists from 29 countries for its innovation, design, and overall excellence. The vehicle, which embodies Kia’s ‘Opposites United‘ design philosophy, features a ‘Digital Tiger Face’ front fascia and a sustainable interior with recycled materials. It shares its platform with the Hyundai-Kia K3 and is built on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) 400V architecture.

Mark Schienberg, President of the New York International Auto Show, expressed his enthusiasm: “As the New York Auto Show marks an incredible 125 years, we’re thrilled to kick off the celebration with one of the industry’s most prestigious honours – the World Car Awards. Winning this award is a true triumph and the perfect way to launch North America’s first and most-attended auto show. Congratulations to this year’s outstanding winners!”
