Hyundai Motor is recalling over 226,000 vehicles in the United States to address a critical safety issue with rear-view cameras. The recall covers 2021-2022 models of the Santa Fe SUV and Elantra sedan, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced on Wednesday.
The malfunction could cause the rear-view camera display to fail, increasing the risk of accidents, according to the NHTSA. Affected owners will have their cameras replaced free of charge at Hyundai dealerships.
“Safety is our top priority,” Hyundai said in a statement, urging customers to schedule repairs promptly. The automaker clarified that no accidents or injuries related to the issue have been reported so far.
The recall highlights Hyundai’s ongoing commitment to addressing technical issues promptly. More than 226,000 drivers will benefit from improved vehicle safety without bearing additional costs.
If you’re driving a 2021 or 2022 Santa Fe or Elantra, check if your vehicle is affected by visiting the NHTSA recall database or contacting Hyundai customer service.
