People have dreamed for a long time of having hovercrafts and flying cars, like in popular shows and movies like “The Jetsons” and “Back to the Future“. Such vehicles would be a major milestone for both culture and technology. And now, we are getting closer to making that dream come true with the Arosa Electric Hovercraft made by VonMercier.
VonMercier, based in Maryland, designed a hovercraft that looks like a sports car but has a lot more to it. The Arosa has three electric engines that make it float six to eight inches above the ground. This means it can move over different surfaces, such as gravel, grass, snow, sand, and water. The Arosa can also go up to 50 mph, but it usually goes at 20 mph. It has a range of 80 miles, takes three hours to charge, and can carry up to 500 pounds.
Also, the hovercraft has a carbon fibre body, a three-seater open-air cockpit, and an optional teak deck with a ladder to get to the water. VonMercier only plans to make 25 units this year, but hopes to double that number in 2024. The Arosa costs $200,000 USD, and you can reserve one today with a $1,000 USD deposit.
VonMercier is a U.S. firm that designs and makes electric vehicles of the future to improve travel, exploration, and recreation.
