AO Racing, a Chicago-based sportscar racing team recently presented its customized Porsche 911 GT3 R, called “GT3 Raw,” at the Twelve Hours of Sebring. The car is named after “Rexy,” the Tyrannosaurus Rex, and was created by team principal and driver PJ Hyett, who adorns his racing helmet with a T-Rex for his son and a unicorn for his daughter.
The vehicle has quickly become a fan favorite and will compete in the 2023 IMSA WeatherTech and World Endurance Championship season as the “GT3-Rawr.” Hyett will be joined by co-drivers Sebastian Priaulx and Gunnar Jeannette for the endurance rounds.
“I’m excited to be one of the drivers of the GT3-Rawr., Gunnar Jeannette said. “I hope Rexy performs as well as it looks, and we can achieve a good result after our disappointing Daytona race. We want to give the fans something to cheer for as Rexy makes its mark both on and off the track.”
Although AO Racing was unable to finish at the top of the pack in the 1,000 miles of Sebring, it has numerous opportunities to get back on track, beginning with its upcoming race in Long Beach next month.
