Air Peace, Nigeria’s leading airline, has announced an extension of its flight schedule for the Lagos-London-Lagos route, now open for booking until March 2025. The route, serviced by Air Peace’s Boeing 777, commenced operations on March 30, 2024, and has quickly gained popularity among both business and leisure travellers.

Passengers on this route can expect premium seating, intercontinental meals, generous luggage allowances, and the unique “Flygerian” experience. Air Peace expressed excitement about the extension, particularly highlighting its convenience for travellers during the festive season.

“This extension is perfect for those planning to travel between Nigeria and London this festive season. With a variety of benefits and packages, Air Peace ensures that passengers will enjoy bespoke comfort and safety,” the airline stated in a press release.

The extension aims to provide more options and convenience for passengers, showcasing Air Peace’s commitment to exceptional service and seamless connectivity. However, this announcement comes amidst a recent dispute over slot allocations at Gatwick Airport, the secondary international airport serving London.

Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, had previously alleged that the airline faced delays in obtaining slots from Gatwick Airport for peak periods, including October to December. However, Gatwick Airport has refuted these claims, stating that winter slots for 2024/25 have not yet been allocated to any airline.

Rebecca Byng, London Gatwick media relations manager, clarified, “The Winter 2024/25 schedule has yet to be coordinated by Airport Coordination Limited (ACL) which allocates slots on behalf of London Gatwick.” She invited airlines to submit their initial requests by a specified date in May.

Despite the slot allocation dispute, Air Peace continues to expand its offerings. The airline’s recent summer promotion allows passengers in Nigeria to connect to London from all domestic destinations, while London passengers can connect to various locations in Nigeria via Lagos.

Air Peace remains at the forefront of Nigeria’s aviation industry, boasting a network of 21 domestic routes, 10 regional routes, and 7 international destinations. With an expanding fleet, including the addition of 5 brand new Embraer 195-E2s and a recent order for 5 new Embraer 175s, the airline is poised for further growth and service excellence.
