A U.S. farmer has given an unexpectedly balanced review of the Tesla Cybertruck, testing its real-world capability far from urban streets, and the results are turning heads online.

In a viral TikTok video, the Smith family (@meetthesmithfamily) shared how the all-electric pickup performed while powering a welder and plasma cutter. According to the farmer, one hour of welding consumed only 9.6 kilowatt-hours from the Cybertruck’s 123-kilowatt-hour battery pack. That’s less than 8% of its total capacity, a surprisingly efficient figure for such an energy-intensive task.

“I’m not here to sell you the Cybertruck,” the farmer clarified. “I just thought this was kind of interesting regarding welding with it.” The remark struck a chord with viewers who have questioned the Cybertruck’s practicality for real work environments.

Beyond its stainless-steel exterior and futuristic design, Tesla’s Cybertruck offers up to 340 miles on a single charge and can recharge 70% of its battery in roughly 15 minutes using a fast charger. However, the farmer noted limitations too, such as a relatively weak towing capacity and suggested keeping trips under 150 miles for optimal performance.

TikTok users praised the demonstration, calling it one of the most relatable reviews yet. “This is the first Cybertruck that feels like a good fit for work,” one commenter wrote. Others appreciated the focus on function over hype, saying it cut through the noise of the EV versus gas debate.

The video underscores a growing curiosity among practical users — from tradespeople to farmers — who want to see if electric vehicles can truly replace traditional work trucks. And if the Smiths’ test is anything to go by, Tesla’s Cybertruck might just be ready for the job.
