Cessna has officially launched the Citation CJ3 Gen2, marking a new chapter in private aviation. Announced first at NBAA-BACE in Las Vegas in 2023, the CJ3 Gen2 entered service just days after the Citation Ascend, adding to Cessna’s growing portfolio of business jets.
Enhanced Pilot Experience with Garmin G3000
While mechanically similar to its predecessor, the CJ3 Gen2 delivers improved comfort and efficiency. Pilots now enjoy 4.5 inches more legroom and simplified cockpit management via the Garmin G3000 suite, featuring autothrottle, touchscreen controllers, and wireless flight-plan transmission. These upgrades are designed to reduce pilot fatigue on longer routes while improving operational reliability.
Passenger Comfort Redefined
For passengers, luxury is front and center. The cabin accommodates up to 10 passengers, with options including fixed or folding side-facing seats, swivel functions, and USB-C connectivity at every seat. Ambient RGB lighting and skylights in the lavatory add a premium touch. Boarding is easier, thanks to a new step and assist handle.
Range, Cargo, and Sustainability
The twin Williams International engines offer a 2,350-mile range and carry up to 2,135 pounds of cargo. Notably, the jet can operate on Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), underlining Cessna’s commitment to eco-conscious business aviation. FAA certification was awarded in October 2025, paving the way for first deliveries to launch customers, including Dave Mecartney and Shannon Day.
A $11 Million Investment in Business Travel
While Cessna has not disclosed the full configuration or exact purchase price, estimates place the CJ3 Gen2 at around $11 million. The combination of enhanced comfort, extended range, and modern avionics positions it as a strong contender for executives and high-net-worth individuals seeking both performance and personalization.
