The Nigerian market for used cars, also known as “tokunbo,” has reached an annual figure of 500,000 cars, while the market for brand-new cars stands at 13,000, according to Suzuki by CFAO GM. In a bid to address this disparity and provide Nigerians with easier access to brand new cars, Suzuki by CFAO Motors Nigeria has partnered with Cars45 and Jiji, leading automotive and e-commerce marketplaces.

The partnership aims to revolutionize the car buying and selling experience for Nigerian consumers by offering convenience and a wider selection of high-quality vehicles. Aissatou Diouf, the General Manager of CFAO Suzuki, speaking on the partnership highlighted the significant difference in market sizes, emphasizing the popularity of used cars in Nigeria. “While the culture of used cars is already deeply ingrained, the goal is to change people’s mindset and encourage them to consider buying brand new cars through the opportunities provided by the partnership,” she said.

Under the agreement with Cars45 and Jiji, prospective car buyers in Nigeria will have access to a comprehensive range of Suzuki models at affordable prices. The success of Suzuki in the local market is evident, with over 3,000 vehicles sold in 2022, positioning their dealership among the top automotive marketing outlets.

On his part, Maxim Makarchuk, the Chief Operating Officer of Cars45, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting their shared mission to transform the car-buying experience in Nigeria. “Cars45 aims to provide exceptional customer service, transparency, reliability, fair pricing, and convenience to customers, ensuring access to the best available options,” he said. “This collaboration with CFAO Suzuki represents a natural progression in their efforts to offer unique opportunities and choices to Nigerian car users.”

With the combined efforts of Suzuki, Cars45, and Jiji, Nigerians can look forward to a more seamless and diverse car purchasing experience, opening up possibilities for owning brand-new vehicles and reshaping the automotive market in the country.
