The Ukrainian Dnipro Anti-aircraft Missile Brigade shot down a Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter, according to a report from the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Today, at around 2:00 p.m., a unit of the Dnipro Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade of the Air Command East shot down an enemy Ka-52 helicopter,” the report said. The Russian Aerospace Forces helicopter was most likely shot down in September or October, but it wasn’t found until now.
A video capturing damage to the hostile helicopter was also released. It caught the moment the Russian helicopter was hit and fell down. Most likely, the Russian pilots did not have time to eject and died.”
Features of the Ka-52 helicopter
1. The Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter is a newer version of the Ka-50.
2. The main benefit of the Ka-52 model is that it can be used for military purposes around the clock, no matter what the weather is like. The helicopter can tell what equipment is from a long way away and send out the information it gets from reconnaissance.
3. The attack helicopter has a crew of just two people. The Ka-52 can reach speeds of up to 300 km/h and reach a static ceiling of 4,000 m because of how it flies.
4. The Ka-52 is armed with a 30-mm gun and six points where 23-mm guns or launchers with guided or unguided anti-tank missiles can be attached.
Operational warfare
5. During the Second Chechen War in December 2000, the Ka-50 was used by the Russian Army to fight against Chechen separatists.
In 2015, Ka-52 helicopters were used to help the Russian military get involved in the Syrian Civil War. During the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Ka-52 was used a lot.
